Lazare Studio is guided by the principles of Wabi-Sabi, a philosophy rooted in ancient Chinese Taoism and Zen Buddhism. It embraces simplicity, authenticity, and the beauty of imperfection. Rather than relying on luxury or flashiness, Lazare focuses on quiet elegance. Each pair of glasses is a tribute to the timeless beauty found in natural aging and handcrafted details.

Founder Alexandre Caton, a longtime optician, combines this philosophy with his deep knowledge of eyewear to create designs that are modern yet nostalgic. Lazare’s styles take cues from the refined aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, updated with contemporary shapes and advanced materials.

Every Lazare frame is a product of two worlds. High-quality materials are sourced from Japan, including pure Japanese acetate, specialized metals, and sustainable components. These materials are then shipped to the Jura Mountains in France, where experienced craftsmen and women assemble each frame using both traditional methods and modern technology.

This partnership results in frames that are not only beautiful, but also durable and comfortable. Each component is thoughtfully designed by Alexandre himself, crafted in Japan, and perfected in France.

Lazare Studio eyewear is designed with longevity in mind. Metal frames go through a special galvanization process, followed by a soft-matte finish and protective epoxy varnish. Acetate frames are machined in a way that avoids overheating, which improves stability over time.

Each frame is fitted with ‘Futureproof’ technology. This patented hinge system is engineered to reduce friction and wear, ensuring smooth movement and lasting performance. Some models also feature Lazare’s “precious Wabi-Sabi” finish, a unique treatment using layers of silver and black gold for a weathered yet refined look.
